The charger is an effective life-saving tool for an experienced car owner, allowing, if necessary, to revive a dead battery, and with it the car itself.
Instructions
Step 1
Choose between conventional chargers and more sophisticated starters and chargers. The first of them serve exclusively in order to fulfill their nominal function - to charge a battery that has exhausted its energy. Devices of the second type are also suitable for starting a car: this procedure requires a lot of energy from the battery, so if it is discharged, it will not be possible to start the car until the battery is filled to the required level. The starter-charger allows you to reduce the waiting time, because with it you can start the car immediately and drive to the desired place, even with an almost empty battery.
Step 2
Choose between a charger and a starter-charger based on how much time you spend behind the wheel. If you do not use your car very often, a simple charger may well meet your daily needs - it is important to remember that it is not only easier to use, but also has a lower cost. For those motorists who drive often and for a long time, the additional functions of more complex chargers can be very useful.
Step 3
Consider the capacity of your battery when choosing the power of your charger. The time required for charging depends on the power - the higher it is, the faster the empty battery will be full. You can calculate the approximate charging time using a simple formula: you need to divide the battery capacity by the charger power and add 10-20% to the result.
Step 4
Decide on the type of power source for your charger. Solar powered models can be used as an alternative to conventional mains powered devices. You can give preference to such a charger if you are ready to sacrifice your time, since they charge the battery longer. However, you can bring your car back to life with a solar-powered charger even in the middle of a lonely road when there are no electrical outlets nearby.
