Necessary

  • - multimeter;
  • - tools (screwdriver, wrench, etc.);
  • - new details.

Instructions

Step 1

As a rule, a breakdown of a car's sound signal is understood as either a jamming of its switch or its complete breakdown, or a damaged relay that switches signals. Accordingly, first of all, it is necessary to determine the type of breakdown.

Step 2

Check the integrity of all wires. To do this, remove the signal panel, carefully pull out the mechanism and start checking. The wires must be intact, without any damage to the winding. Any crack or crease is a reason to replace it, because sooner or later such a malfunction will certainly make itself felt.

Step 3

The next step is to test the relay itself and the switch. You can check the integrity of the wiring or the horn button directly, either visually or with a multimeter. Check the entire chain gradually. First, the relay clicks - they must be heard. Next, determine if voltage is applied to the signal. This is done quite simply - connect a multimeter to the signal and press the horn. If there is no sound, this does not mean that it has not completely broken. First, move the mechanism a little, perhaps the cause of the malfunction is banal rust. This happens if the fasteners are affected by it.

Step 4

If the part is still completely damaged, buy a new one and just replace it. Such parts are sold in any specialized car dealership or market. Unscrew the broken part carefully, remove it from the general mechanism. Insert a new one in its place and secure. Connect all required pins.

Step 5

It so happens that there is a signal, but it sounds very quiet or hoarse. This indicates that there is a problem with the battery powering the horn. If it has practically sat down, replace it with a new one. In the case when the charge is still quite enough, but the sound is very weak, start repairs. To do this, take a screw, attach it to the sound signal adjustment lever and start rotating it in different directions, checking the sound.

Step 6

When collecting the signal back, do it very carefully. It is important at the time of assembly to correctly install the gasket between the membrane and the body of the device. It is necessary to maintain the manufacturer's specified gap between the core and the armature in the device.
