If, while driving your car, an extraneous hum is heard in the area of the front wheel, this means that the front wheel bearing is out of order and it is time to replace it. It will not be difficult for you to make a replacement yourself, if only the tools are at hand.
It is necessary
- - jack
- - cross-shaped wrench (balonnik)
- - two recoil devices
- - socket heads for 12, 17, 19, 30.
- - spanners 10, 17, 19
- - round nose pliers
- - vice
- - hammer and wood chock
Instructions
Step 1
Place struts under the rear wheel of the vehicle. Raise the front wheel that was humming. With the jack in place, lift the wheel and roll it with your hands. Make sure this bearing is the source of the hum and needs to be replaced.
Step 2
Lower the wheel until it touches the ground and first rip off the center nut (30 hubs) using a socket head. Next, rip off the wheel bolts with a Phillips wrench (balonnik). Raise the car again with a jack, and after completely unscrewing the wheel bolts, remove it.
Step 3
Unscrew the bolts securing the brake caliper and the ball joint to the steering knuckle using a 17 and 19 wrench. Place a mark on the upper bolt securing the shock absorber strut to the steering knuckle. Unscrew both bolts with wrenches 17 and 19.
Unscrew the guide pins of the wheel with a socket head of 12. Carefully knock down the brake disc using a hammer and a wooden chock. Unscrew the three bolts 10 and remove the tin boot. Remove the hub by unscrewing the nut 30.
Step 4
Using round nose pliers, remove the two bearing circlips from the hub. Use a mandrel and hammer to remove the old bearing from the hub. Check the bearing seat for visible damage.
Replace the outer circlip. Press the new bearing into the hub with a vise. Install the second retaining ring.
Step 5
Assemble in reverse order.
