Over time, the plastic headlights of the car begin to cloud. Small scratches and chips appear on them, which will not be difficult to polish. It is useful to polish before winter, when the transparency and brightness of the headlights is especially important.
It is necessary
- - polish;
- - sponge;
- - water;
- - gloves;
- - Toothpaste.
Instructions
Step 1
First, tape the body around the headlight with masking tape. This is necessary in order not to damage the paint on the car during polishing. The place under the tape can be smeared with oil so that when it is removed it does not tear along with the paint.
Step 2
It is necessary to sand the surface of the headlight with wet sandpaper, removing all scratches and chips. As soon as the plastic surface of the headlight is dull and even, wipe it with a dry cloth or dry it. The polishing base is ready.
Step 3
It is imperative to rinse the polishing sponge under running water so that there is not a single grain of sand on it! Then squeeze out the sponge, but not completely, but only so that there are no visible drops of water.
Step 4
Apply polish to the headlight or sponge; if convenient, you can apply one drop to different places of the headlight. The main thing is that there is not too much polish. With slow circular motions, applying light pressure to the sponge, begin to polish. The sponge must be moistened all the time so that it does not dry out and does not scratch the surface. Be careful not to get sand or dust on the surface of the headlamp.
Step 5
Once all the polish is gone, rinse the headlight and dry. If you notice matte stains on the surface, polish the area again. If the headlight shines like new - start polishing with a fine abrasive polish. It is used according to the same technology as the base polish. After it, be sure to rinse the headlight with water as well.
Step 6
Some motorists advise polishing the headlights with toothpaste. The technology is the same. Spread, grind and rinse. Only apply a small amount, as ugly white flakes may remain.
