It is necessary

  • - round-nose pliers;
  • - wrenches;
  • - ruler

Instructions

Step 1

To adjust the clutch cable, measure dimension A between the end of the damper and the clutch release fork and dimension B between the end of the damper and the end of the cable. Dimension A should be 81-91 mm, dimension B 55-65 mm. If in fact the measured values deviate from the norm, set them with the adjusting nut of the cable end.

Step 2

In the groove in the clutch fork, find the 2 pedal adjusting nuts screwed onto the threaded stud. The outer one is a locknut. Unscrew it to the full length of the stud. Then, gradually unscrewing the second nut, adjust the position of the pedal. After adjustment, tighten the lock nut while holding the adjusting nut against displacement with a wrench.

Step 3

Note that the clutch disc friction linings will wear out over time. Because of this, the set cable adjustments change. The clutch pedal moves up, its full travel increases and the clutch engagement moment is shifted towards the end of the pedal travel. In this case, the adjustments should be checked and, if necessary, corrected.

Step 4

Step on the clutch pedal several times and make sure that the adjustments you set do not go astray. If this happens, check the tightness of the adjusting nut or locknut. Make sure the threads are not ripped off. Also make sure that the travel of the free end of the clutch release fork is within 28–33 mm for engaging a 1.4 liter engine, and 30–35 mm for a 1.6 liter engine.

Step 5

Start the engine to check the adjustment. In this case, the car must stand on level ground. Depress the clutch pedal to the floor, engage first gear and slowly release the pedal. Do not touch the accelerator. Before the moment the clutch engages, the engine will change rpm - this can be seen from the tachometer and noticed by ear. When the car starts to move, this will be the grasping moment.

Step 6

Medium grip is normal for most drivers, when the moment of starting the car occurs in the middle of the pedal travel. This adjustment is convenient when starting from a place and driving a car in urban conditions. Upper seizure occurs in the ¾ of pedal travel and is convenient when shifting gears and driving at high speeds.
