It is more convenient to carry out work on noise insulation of the Niva on a completely disassembled car. Therefore, high-quality do-it-yourself work takes a lot of time. Professional noise insulation involves the use of several types of material for each section of the car body. When choosing materials, give preference to self-adhesive materials.

- - soundproofing foamed open-cell material with a protective aluminized film 12 mm thick (No. 1);
- - vibration-damping bitumen material with protective aluminum foil 2 mm thick (No. 2);
- - vibration-damping bitumen laminate 4 mm thick (No. 3);
- - bituminized cardboard with a vibration-damping layer 1.5 mm thick (No. 4);
- - vibration-damping bitumen laminate with a thickness of 2 mm (No. 5);
- - materials No. 1 and No. 5 glued together;
- - guerlain;
- - foam rubber 1 cm thick
Instructions
Step 1
All surfaces to be soundproofed should be carefully measured first. Then cut out the purchased materials and fit the cut pieces in place. Degrease the surfaces to be glued with petrol. All materials, except for No. 1, after gluing, heat with a hair dryer. Preheat material # 3 to facilitate cutting.
Step 2
Dismantle the gas tank. Cover the floor under it with material No. 2. To remove the headlining, remove the windscreen and rear side windows. Remove the regular fiberglass completely, clean the free surface with a brush. Cover with material # 4 and over it with material # 1.
Step 3
Cover the gearbox housing with material No. 2 from the inside. To do this, you will first have to remove the gearbox and clutch. From the side of the passenger compartment, remove the standard soundproofing and cover with material No. 3. Additionally, re-arrange the transmission to reduce noise. Wrap the transfer case control knobs with material No. 5.
Step 4
First glue the rear fenders with material # 3, and on top with material # 1. Cover the amplifiers with material no. 5. Glue the plastic upholstery of the rear fenders from the inside with foam rubber, 1 mm thick. Cover the rear wheel arches with material No. 3.
Step 5
Cover the engine compartment up to the side members with material No. 2. Stick the sheets end-to-end, without overlaps. Try to tape the space behind the engine. Cover the heater air intake housing with the same material. Trim the hood with material no. 6.
Step 6
Remove the standard noise insulation from the doors, clean the metal from corrosion and glue material No. 4, and on top of it material No. 1. Glue porous polyethylene on the back of the door trim. On the plastic upholstery of the rear doors, additionally glue 1 cm thick foam rubber.
Step 7
From the inside of the passenger compartment, glue the heater and its air ducts, as well as all plastic parts and interior elements with material No. 5. Paste over the interior itself with material No. 3 from the lower frame of the windshield to the rear door. Apply a self-adhesive seal on top of all installed sound insulation. Wrap mats with material No. 5
Step 8
When assembling the vehicle, drill new holes and use longer fasteners where necessary.
