Disassembly and subsequent assembly of the engine is necessary in two cases: when it is required to assess the condition of the engine from the inside, and when there are malfunctions that cannot be eliminated indiscriminately. Consider how to disassemble the engine using the example of the VAZ-2110.

Instructions

Step 1

After removing the engine from under the hood, wash it thoroughly and place it on a disassembly stand. Carefully drain the oil that is in the engine sump. Then remove the clutch from the engine and the camshaft drive belt. Don't forget the washer under the idler roller, which must also be removed.

Step 2

Disconnect the toothed pulley, then remove the three bolts that secure the water pump and the nut that secures the rear belt cover. Remove the cover, then use a screwdriver to move the pump out of place, and then remove it.

Step 3

Carefully remove the head from the cylinder block and unscrew the bolts that secure the oil sump. Disconnect it, remembering to remove the gasket as well. Locate the spring washers under the bolt heads and remove the oil receiver bolts. Remove the oil level sensor from the crankcase. If this process is difficult, then turn the crankshaft so that the sensor can be easily pulled out.

Step 4

Remove the connecting rod cover by first sliding it out of place with weak hammer blows. Then, using a screwdriver, push the connecting rod into the cylinder and carefully pull out the piston. Remove the rest of the pistons in the same way. Disconnect the flywheel carefully.

Step 5

After unscrewing the bolts, disconnect the gasket and the rear oil seal holder. Remove the toothed pulley. If you see that the key in the groove is not firmly fixed, then it is better to remove it and set it aside so as not to lose it. Remove the oil pump and gasket.

Step 6

After disconnecting the bearing caps, remove the crankshaft. Remove the rest of the details if there is a direct need for it. Assemble in reverse order. Remember, during the assembly process, you need to replace worn gaskets and fill with new oil.
