Sometimes it happens that car owners have to repair the engine on their car on their own.
Necessary
- - a set of locksmith tools
- - rags
Instructions
Step 1
There is nothing terrible in such an operation. It is necessary to stock up only with patience and endurance, and even have a set of good tools at hand.
So let's get started. Let's say the heart of the iron horse is already on your workbench in the garage or another table temporarily adapted for repair. First you need to free the motor from all attachments. Dismantle the generator, starter, water pump, fuel pump (if equipped), intake and exhaust manifolds, ignition interrupter-distributor, camshaft belt tensioner and the belt itself (if equipped).
Step 2
Next, remove the front crankshaft pulley, valve cover, front timing cover, oil pan, oil pump, camshaft chain, timing gears, camshaft (s), cylinder head, clutch and flywheel.
Step 3
Now you can start disassembling the crank mechanism. Place the engine upside down. This will make it much more convenient to dismantle the crankshaft. And let's take turns to release the crankshaft from the connecting rods with pistons. Having unscrewed the neck of the connecting rod, drown the piston in the cylinder with a wooden or plastic hammer handle, and re-thread its neck on the connecting rod.
Step 4
Having freed the engine crankshaft from the connecting rods with pistons, you can begin to dismantle the most critical engine part. One by one, having previously numbered the main bearings (if there are no factory marks on them), with which the crankshaft is attached, start unscrewing and folding them in a strictly defined order, guided by the engine.
Step 5
After removing the crankshaft, lay the engine on its side and remove the pistons and connecting rods from it. That's all. Now it remains only to wash all the parts in diesel fuel or kerosene, observing fire safety measures.
