Necessary

  • - leather material;
  • - sewing machine;
  • - threads;
  • - markers;
  • - tracing paper.

Instructions

Step 1

Make a pattern for the covers. To do this, you need to take measurements from the seats and the back sofa and draw a drawing from them. If you have old covers, you can make a pattern for them. To do this, open the old covers at the seams and transfer all sizes to tracing paper. Check the correctness of the pattern made.

Step 2

Select the material for the covers. It is best to buy car leather as it is best adapted for use in the interior of a car. You also need to purchase threads to match the color of the selected skin.

Step 3

Mark the back of the car leather with a colored marker. With a red marker, circle all the lines along which you want to cut the workpiece. Cut out blanks for covers along all control lines.

Step 4

Start sewing the covers with a basting stitch. Make sure that each seam is straight and neat, and does not create unnecessary folds and distortions. Hide all knots carefully from the back.

Step 5

Slide the seat covers over to check if they were made correctly. If there are no distortions, then sew all the basting seams on the sewing machine. Then remove the basting.

Step 6

Sew a zipper on the back of the covers. Thanks to it, you can easily remove them for regular cleaning. Or you can sew on special Velcro. Sew the edges carefully by bending them over and stitching them with a sewing machine.

Step 7

Make special pockets from pieces of leather in which you can store any useful things. They can be sewn on the sidewalls or on the back of the seats.

Step 8

Make covers for all head restraints in the same way.
