Necessary

  • 1) Material for dashboard plating;
  • 2) Special glue;
  • 3) Acetone;
  • 4) Building hair dryer.

Instructions

Step 1

Remove the dashboard. Pasting the panel is difficult and time-consuming, so postpone all trips. Removal is necessary for the complete convenience of the work performed. First of all, remove the dashboard. Usually you need to pry it off with a screwdriver for special clips. In some cars, the dashboard is screwed on; to remove it, simply unscrew the screws. Sometimes it is necessary to remove a certain part (receiver, ashtray) in order to reach the clamps with your hands. After removing the panel, disconnect all the chips from the devices. Unscrew the bolts at the edges of the dashboard, and the nuts securing the dashboard to the body. They are located in the hole for the instrument panel and the stowage compartment. After that, remove the torpedo.

Step 2

Degrease the panel. To do this, use acetone. Before this procedure, wipe off dust and dirt from the panel. Then, after drying, proceed to degreasing. This is necessary for strong adhesion of the pasting material to the dashboard. Next, cut out a large piece of material. You can also paste over the dashboard gradually, in smaller pieces. However, immediately think about solutions for the places where the different pieces will be glued. Otherwise, it will not look very aesthetically pleasing.

Step 3

Place the cut-out piece of material on the panel. Fit it all over the panel. Tighten immediately where needed and cut out a space for the dashboard. Carefully inspect all the joints of the various elements of the dashboard. Think about how easier it will be to paste over them. For ease of pasting, you can make cuts at the junctions of various dashboard elements. After all the preparations, proceed to gluing. Apply glue to the panel surface. After that, start gluing the material. Proceed with caution because the adhesive must be quick-setting. Linger a little and ruin the material. Having pasted over a small area of the dashboard, begin to dry it with a construction hairdryer. So move all panels along the surface. Make sure that all areas of the pasting are taut. Dry each area before starting a new one. Moving in this way, you will be able to paste over the torpedo in two to three days.
