Driving a tram is both simple and difficult at the same time. After all, this is not a machine - everything is arranged differently for him. The tram has no gearbox. But, despite this, it would be unjustified to call this type of transport easy.
Instructions
Step 1
In order to become a tram driver, you need to obtain a special license. It is issued after completing courses at the Training and Course Complex (there is a branch in almost every city in Russia). You will be offered to train in the position of a driver's apprentice.
Step 2
To enroll in training at the plant, you will have to write an application and provide a medical certificate. It can be issued at the clinic to which the educational institution is attached to the service. To get a document for permission to drive a tram, you will have to go through a medical examination. This commission includes the following professionals: neurologist, ophthalmologist, narcologist, psychiatrist, surgeon and ENT.
Step 3
Training at the plant lasts five months. For half of your studies, you will study theory. These are the rules of the road, and the law on labor protection, and the study of materiel. You will spend the remaining two and a half months on practical exercises: first on a training car, then on a real tram. At the end of the course, you must pass a theory exam. Then go to the traffic police to pass the theory. Your driving practice will be taken at the Training and Course Complex. Upon completion of training, you will receive a category "D" license, which will allow you to become a tram driver.
Step 4
Now you can go online. Trams have only two pedals - gas and brake, as in a car with an automatic transmission. This can cause the brake pedal to engage. This makes it easier for the driver, because eliminates the need to keep your foot on the brake continuously during a stop.
Step 5
In older tram models, there are two handles on the sides of the cab. They perform the basic functions of tram control. With their help, a turn is carried out, sound and light signals are given, doors are opened.
Step 6
In modern trams, there is only one control lever. As necessary, it must be set in one position or another. For example, to turn, set at the level of the notch of the same name. For all other necessary signals, there are special toggle switches and buttons.
Step 7
When driving a tram, many factors need to be taken into account: this is the view of the windshield (on some models it is much wider), and the degree of cab insulation (in old models, due to not particularly high-quality insulation, the glass is very cold in winter). Those deficiencies that cannot be corrected as a whole can be prevented prophylactically, for example, by treating the glass with antifreeze. When driving, you need to monitor the entrance of the tram into turns. On wet or icy rails, the wheels can skid quite easily, and you need to get the tram out of the skid without harming passengers.
