Good sound insulation distinguishes more expensive cars from mass-produced cars. It is heavy and, in part, because of this, expensive cars weigh more. You can improve the sound insulation in the car with your own hands, it all depends only on the strength of desire and financial capabilities.

Necessary

  • - dense and plastic material (Texound membranes, etc.);
  • - set of tools;
  • - special liquid soundproofing material;
  • - double-sided adhesive tape.

Instructions

Step 1

The heavier the insulating material, the lower its resonance and sound propagation frequency. Installing soundproofing will increase the weight of the vehicle. Never use asphalt-based materials for soundproofing. Foil-doped materials affect thermal performance rather than acoustic performance. Use special liquid soundproofing material in hard-to-reach places.

Step 2

Using the necessary tools, dismantle the inner door trim. Install the soundproofing material in the opened free cavity and fix it with double-sided adhesive tape. Install the trim back. Check if all handles and window lifters are working properly. If necessary, dismantle the casing again and remove the interfering material.

Step 3

Remove the wheel arch liners. Fasten soundproofing material in them. Install the wheel arch liners back. Make sure that all drainage holes are open for water drainage.

Step 4

Remove the seats in the vehicle. Dismantle the inner lining of the passenger compartment down to the metal. Attach sound absorbing material. Collect everything back.

Step 5

Remove the vehicle's headliner. Install noise insulation. Collect the ceiling back.

Step 6

Remove the front dashboard of the car. Install noise insulation. Secure the dashboard in place.
