Cars with rear-wheel drive produced by the Volzhsky Automobile Plant are still produced with a contact ignition system, despite the fact that it has long been outdated. However, the Russian car industry at the end of the 90s of the last century established the production of a contactless ignition system. True, such systems were equipped with cars intended exclusively for export from the country.
Necessary
- - equipment for a contactless ignition system - 1 set,
- - screwdriver.
Instructions
Step 1
Installation of the above-mentioned system in a car contributes to the formation of a more powerful spark discharge at the contacts of the spark plug due to the increased voltage (up to 24 kV) passing through the secondary winding of the inductor.
Step 2
To upgrade the contact ignition system, you must purchase a kit that includes: inductor 27.3705, distributor sensor (Hall), switch 3620.3734, wiring harness, high-voltage wires, spark plugs A17DVR or their analogues.
Step 3
Conversion takes a little more than one hour from a motorist who has little experience in performing similar work with electrical equipment.
Step 4
First of all, the ignition coil is installed, the optimal place for its placement is the left mudguard of the engine compartment. With the help of two self-tapping screws, it is fixed in the indicated place.
Step 5
Further, having installed the crankshaft according to the ignition timing marks, which corresponds to the compression stroke in the fourth cylinder, the old "slider" is replaced by a Hall sensor, and the high-voltage wires are rearranged on the cover of the breaker-distributor.
Step 6
The spark plugs are then replaced on the engine in the cylinder head. A gap of 0.8 mm is preset on their contacts.
Step 7
During the last stage of the conversion, a new inductor is installed and a wiring harness from the purchased kit is connected to all elements of the contactless ignition system.
Step 8
Having put on the cover of the interrupter-distributor, using a stroboscope, the correct ignition timing is set, after which the car is ready for further operation.
