Almost any motorist sooner or later comes to the conclusion that it is necessary to make changes to his car. This is often caused by some kind of breakdown. For example, the speedometer or some part of the panel is broken. You can replace it yourself, but you need to dismantle the panel. So how do you do this?

Step 1
Decide whether you are going to completely disassemble the panel or just remove the outer panel overlay. Before disassembling the panel completely, you must remove the negative terminal from the battery to de-energize the vehicle.
Step 2
Before proceeding to dismantle the panel, select a location. A garage may be suitable for this, but the vehicle should be positioned to provide good light access. Also, make sure you have a bright flashlight, as you will have to work in places where there is little light. Study your vehicle manual to understand the torpedo mounting pattern.
Step 3
All external parts and trims must be removed first. Also remove the steering wheel. To do this, dismantle the center section of the steering wheel. If there is an airbag, remove it and disconnect all wires leading to it. Then unscrew the central nut. The steering wheel itself can now be removed. Find all the screws that hold the panel and unscrew them. Usually the panel consists of several parts, so they should be removed, starting with the one that is closer to the driver.
Step 4
When all the external elements of the torpedo are dismantled, you can proceed directly to the removal of the torpedo itself. To do this, carefully pry it off with a screwdriver. Be careful not to scratch or break the plastic of the torpedo. Separate the torpedo carefully by a few centimeters, after which it is necessary to disconnect all the air ducts of the stove. Now all that remains is to dismantle the wiring that goes to the dashboard and the center console, on which the buttons are located. All wires should be marked before disassembly to avoid confusion later. When the panel has nothing to hold, carefully remove it through the right front door.
