The dashboard of the car is the part that is most exposed to mechanical stress. Therefore, it may require replacement or repair. It is better to dismantle the torpedo yourself, so as not to overpay extra money in the service.
Necessary
- - screwdrivers;
- - keys;
- - cotton gloves.
Instructions
Step 1
Drive your Mazda into the garage. Open the hood and discard the negative terminal of the storage battery, thereby de-energizing the vehicle. Open the front doors as much as possible. If they do not hold in this position, then fix them with a wooden or rubber block inserted between the door and the car body.
Step 2
Remove all plastic covers and decorative parts. They are attached to plastic rivets that can be easily removed. Find the small bolts under the covers on the center console. Unscrew them. Remove all buttons and climate control knobs. It is also necessary to remove the steering wheel pad. Underneath you will find a squib and airbag housing. Unplug it carefully and remove it from the recess.
Step 3
Remove the nut that secures the steering wheel to the shaft. Remove the steering wheel and all steering column switches. Lower the steering column as far down as possible. Now find all the screws securing the torpedo to the body. Unscrew them. Record the location of each on paper to avoid confusion when reassembling.
Step 4
Apply a little force and pull the torpedo towards you a little by pulling on its edges. It should pop out of the mountings. Do not jerk the torpedo too hard to avoid damaging the wires. Find the wire pads on the back. Label them carefully and disconnect. Make sure nothing else is holding the torpedo. Pull it out carefully through the door on the right.
Step 5
Assembly should be done upside-down. Follow the consistency. Check each bolt several times, as poorly tightened parts cause unpleasant rattling when moving.
