The mounting block of fuses of any car contains, in addition to the fuse-links that protect the power supply circuits of the equipment, relays through which some consumers are connected. It can be located in the passenger compartment on the left side of the dashboard or in the engine compartment to the left of the battery, depending on the make of the car. Sometimes, for example, to replace a blown fuse or a faulty relay, you need to open it.

Necessary

  • - flat screwdriver;
  • - end head "10";
  • - tweezers (tongs) for fuses;
  • - probe lamp or voltmeter.

Instructions

Step 1

Disconnect the negative cable from the storage battery. This must be done during any operations with the vehicle's electrical equipment. Open the fuse box located at the left end of the instrument panel by pressing the latch with your finger. After that, the unit cover can be easily opened.

Step 2

If the fuse box is in the engine compartment, open the hood first. To do this, pull the hood lock drive handle towards you. Pull the tab of the safety hook through the gap between the edge of the hood and the radiator trim by hand. Lift its cover.

Step 3

Holding it with one hand, lift the bonnet stop and install it in the special slot in the amplifier. The hood should be on the stop. The fuse box is located on the left side of the battery. Its cover is secured with latches.

Step 4

Open the fuse box by pressing your fingers on the four latches on the cover. Open the cover. On one of its sides there is a diagram of the location of fuses and relays, and their purpose. If you need to replace a defective part, use special tweezers. The main fuse is secured with two screws, which must first be unscrewed.

Step 5

If you need to remove the fuse box, then after opening its cover with the "10" head, unscrew the two nuts of its fastening. Lift the unit up and disconnect the four connectors at the front and one at the back. Disconnect the five harness connectors from the passenger compartment.

Step 6

After the necessary operations, install the unit in reverse order. Do not forget to seal the connection of the mounting block with a special gasket.
