For serious protection of the car from theft, one alarm is not enough. It is better to supplement the security system with mechanical locks. Modern technology makes it possible to mount locks in such a way that they become a serious obstacle for hijackers. Of course, you can steal a car with any security complex. But the more they are installed on the machine, the more time it takes to open it. And in this case, time is playing on you.

The most reliable and at the same time the easiest to install lock is the steering shaft lock ("Guarantor"). The principle of its operation is that the steering column could not be cranked. A clutch with a lock and a cylinder for a stopper is installed on the steering shaft. The stopper must be removed if you are going somewhere to go. In principle, this is the only inconvenience of the system. Since the cylinder for the stopper is very low, inserting and removing it is not easy at all. Sometimes you even have to get out of the car. But if you think about it, these are all trifles compared to what a huge role the steering wheel lock plays during theft. The lock cannot be cut off with a grinder or opened. Attempts to rupture the clutch under pressure or to spray with liquid nitrogen will remain unsuccessful. The development company (and it is domestic) is constantly improving the lock. But at the same time, the cost of the anti-theft lock on the steering wheel is affordable, you can buy it from a retail network or install it from authorized dealers or large technical centers.

An excellent addition to the steering shaft lock can be a gearbox lock ("Guarantor", "Mult-T-Lock", "Dragon", "Defend Lock"). This is a mortise lock that locks the handle in the Parking position (installed only on automatic transmissions). It is very convenient to use it, the lock is cut to the right of the handle. This lock is a little less reliable, it can be drilled out under the bottom of the car. Therefore, it is better to install it complete with a good alarm system and additional mechanical locks. You can buy a lock at a checkpoint only with installation. This can be done from an authorized representative and a technical center. It is extremely difficult to install the lock yourself, because of all kinds of installation tricks.

For maximum protection of the car from theft, you can put a lock on the hood (StarLine, Defen Time, Athlete). The hood lock protects against unauthorized access to the car engine. Often, hijackers open the hood to get to the car siren or to the electronic control unit. The cylinder of the mechanical hood lock is installed under the torpedo or in the glove compartment (the latter is less preferable due to ease of access). The electromechanical lock is completely opened using a special key fob.
