Removing the bumper is necessary if you need to paint or repair it, as well as get to those parts of the car that it covers. Let's look at how to remove a bumper on a Mitsubishi Lancer.
Instructions
Step 1
To remove the front bumper, you need screwdrivers, pliers and a set of wrenches, including socket wrenches for "10" and "12". Use a screwdriver to pry out the radiator grille retainer pin. After that, carefully remove it and do the same with the second retainer. Also remove the retainer for the radiator grille and the plastic grille itself. If the plastic holders and clips break, be sure to replace them with new ones.
Step 2
Remove the bolts that secure the bumper to the amplifier, then find the pad holders from below and carefully remove them. Remove the caps designed to attach the liner to the trim. Remember they are on both sides. Remove the bolts securing the fenders to the fenders and disconnect the connector for the wires that fit the fog lights.
Step 3
Remove the bumper cover from the vehicle. Then unscrew the two bolts that secure the bumper reinforcement to the car body and remove it. Install the front bumper and its lining in the reverse order.
Step 4
To remove the rear bumper, you will need the same tools and an additional “14” socket wrench. Disconnect the fog lamp harness connector and remove the taillights. Remove the bolts with which the mudguards are attached to the wheel arch. Then remove the mud flaps and front bumper mounting bolts.
Step 5
Remove the bolts in the taillight holes. Remove the pin from the holder and remove it. Detach the trunk lining by removing the holders and gently prying it off with a screwdriver. Find the plastic holders that are attached to the bottom. Remove the nuts securing the bumper reinforcement to the body. Bend the luggage compartment lining and remove the bumper mounting bolts, then pull it towards you and remove.
