Dismantling and installation of the front bumper on a Mazda 3 car is best done in an inspection pit, on an overpass, or by hanging the front part with a hoist. Otherwise, due to the low ground clearance inherent in all Mazda, you will experience severe inconvenience.
It is necessary
- - wrenches;
- - flat screwdriver.
Instructions
Step 1
Disconnect the negative cable from the battery terminal before starting work. Then remove the crankcase guard. In the area where the wheel arch liners are attached to the bumper, find the plastic clips and unscrew them. With the wing liner back slightly, locate the bolt securing the bumper to the fender and unscrew it. Perform the same procedures on the other side of the vehicle.
Step 2
Looking at the bottom of the bumper, find the 10 bolts securing it to the bottom and unscrew them. After that, open the hood, find the headlight mount. It consists of a large bolt and three clips. Unscrew the bolt and clip closest to the radiator. The rest of the clips do not need to be unscrewed. Then remove the rubber cushions that cushion the impact of the hood when it is closed. Find plastic clips under these rubber bands. Pry them with a flat screwdriver, slide to the side and remove from the slots. Unscrew the four pistons securing the upper bumper and radiator grille.
Step 3
Grasp the ends of the bumper or wheel wells and pull them outward to disengage the bumper lock and remove it from the rails. At the same time, try not to break the guide "antennae" on the mounting brackets. After disconnecting one of the bumper locks, it may fall and be damaged. Therefore, when releasing one of the locks, secure it properly.
Step 4
From the radiator grille side of the front amplifier, find the front lock and flip it off. Then, grasp the front of the bumper and pull it forward. Remember to take measures to prevent it from slipping to the floor. If the car has fog lights, first slightly extend the bumper, turn them off, and then continue to dismantle the part. When removing the bumper, pay attention to the outside temperature sensor to avoid damaging it. It is located behind the lower bumper grille, on the border of the bumper itself and the crankcase guard.
