Any car can rust, because its body is made of metal. To prevent destruction, it is necessary to get rid of the rust as soon as possible. How to do it yourself?
Necessary
- - spray gun;
- - dye;
- - primer;
- - scotch tape and newspaper;
- - sandpaper;
- - degreaser;
- - rust converter;
- - putty.
Instructions
Step 1
Thoroughly work the rusted area with a drill. Use a special attachment - a metal grinding wheel. Remove rust to metal. Degrease and treat the cleaned area with rust converter. Be careful - the converter contains acid. For safety, wear gloves, goggles and a respirator - this will protect you from flying rust and paint dust. Be careful not to get the transducer on your skin or eyes. If this does happen, immediately rinse the affected area with water and see a doctor.
Step 2
Rinse the treated areas on the car body with water, degrease and putty again. After the putty dries, gently wipe it down using sandpaper wrapped around a block of wood. Do the processing very carefully, take your time. How you do this depends on the type of the repaired area in the future.
Step 3
Remove dust from the putty. It is better to do this with a cloth soaked in water abundantly. Dry.
Step 4
Start painting. Apply several coats of paint, each after the previous one has dried. Use a spray gun. In order not to stain those places that do not need to be painted, tape the newspaper to the car with adhesive tape, cutting out a hole of the required size. Be careful not to drip. Wait 24 hours and remove the newspaper. Touch up the edges of the stain if necessary. The car can be washed 48 hours after the last touch-up. If you are not confident in your abilities, entrust the painting to professionals.
