Oil change is a mandatory vehicle maintenance procedure. The service life of the engine depends on its timeliness and correctness of execution. It is best to change the oil in a specialized workshop, but if there is a garage with a pit, then you can change it yourself.
Necessary
- - Flushing liquid;
- - new oil filter;
- - a key for the drain plug;
- - canister;
- - funnel.
Instructions
Step 1
Warm up the engine before changing the oil, for best results it is advisable to drive the car a little to warm up the engine oil.
Step 2
Drive the car into a hole so that you have access to the drain plug on the engine sump. Stop the engine, then use a funnel to pour flushing fluid into the filler neck. Start the engine and let it idle. The recommended operating time is indicated on the flushing fluid can. Listen carefully to how the engine is running while operating. There should be no extraneous sounds. Do not let the engine run longer than recommended by the flushing fluid manufacturer and do not idle. After the specified time, stop the engine.
Step 3
Place a prepared canister with a funnel under the oil drain hole. Using a suitable wrench, unscrew the drain plug on the engine sump. Pull out the plug quickly so that the oil does not splatter in different directions. The hot oil will flow quickly in a uniform stream. Adjust the canister, if necessary, place it on a suitable stand, make sure that the oil does not flow past. Most of the oil will drain within 15 minutes. If you want to drain as much of the oil as possible, then let the remaining oil drain off for 2-3 hours. For best results, unscrew the oil filter - trapped oil in the passages will drain out of the passages.
Step 4
When the remaining oil has drained from the engine, close the oil plug and tighten slightly with a wrench. Remove the waste canister, wipe the oil stain around the cork with a dry cloth. Take a new oil filter, fill it halfway with new oil. Tilt it to its side, looking inward through the threaded hole so that the oil reaches the top edge of the filter element. Rotate it slowly around the axis to saturate the entire filter element with oil. Lubricate the rubber O-ring with engine oil. After that, reinstall the filter and tighten it by hand.
Step 5
Fill in new oil through the filler neck on the engine valve cover. Use a funnel, no matter how convenient it is to fill in oil - this will reduce the likelihood of oil getting on ignition wires and other rubber parts that are undesirable for oil to get on.
Step 6
Start the engine, pay attention to the oil pressure light. It should go out within 10 seconds. Run the engine for 2-3 minutes, then inspect the oil filter connection for oil leaks. If there is a slight leak, tighten the filter a little tighter.
