Lamps in headlights burn out, as a rule, at the most inopportune moment. Therefore, make sure in advance that there is always a set of keys, screwdrivers and pliers in the car. Carrying such a set all the time is easier than driving to your home or service in the dark with the headlight inoperative. Also put spare bulbs for your car in the toolbox.
Necessary
- - spare lamps;
- - keys set;
- - screwdrivers and pliers;
- - protective goggles and gloves.
Instructions
Step 1
Check your vehicle manual for the size of the headlight bulbs. Purchase the same ones in advance to replace the burned out ones. Be careful when working, as failed flasks may burst, scattering debris. If you have safety glasses, be sure to wear them. Protective gloves are also useful.
Step 2
To feel more confident before the first lamp replacement operation, read the appropriate section of the operating instructions for your car. Unfortunately, not all instructions describe this process clearly and easily enough. But don't despair! With even a little experience in lamp replacement, the next time you can do everything much faster and with less effort.
Step 3
Remove the headlight mounting bolts. Pressing the latches with a screwdriver, remove the headlamp housing from the installation socket, gently shaking it to the sides. After removing the headlamp housing, do not pull on it. First disconnect the terminal block by sliding the locking tab to the side. By removing the plugs, you will gain access to the lamp. Remove the old lamp from the socket and replace it with a new one. Avoid touching the bulb with your fingers. Reassemble the headlight in the reverse order and install it on the car.
Step 4
On some foreign cars, to dismantle the headlight housing, it is required to turn out the wheels, remove the expansion tank or washer tank, plastic linings, batteries, pistons for attaching mud flaps and / or other car parts. On cars with poorly thought out lamp replacement technology, you will have to remove or lower the bumper and grille.
Step 5
If you install non-native or non-original lamps, their base may not fit the installation socket in the reflector housing. As a result, it will not be possible to accurately install it, and when shaken, the lamp will shift. Therefore, try to use only the lamps recommended by the manufacturer or purchase a suitable adapter.
Step 6
After replacing the bulb, check the headlamp housing for leaks. Otherwise, dirt will get on the reflector, which will subsequently burn and become impossible to remove. Finally, wash the headlight housing and adjust if necessary.
