Until now, shell garages are one of the most popular types of car storage. This is due to their low cost and mobility. But not every owner of such a caravan knows how to disassemble it.

Necessary

  • - a hammer;
  • - keys;
  • - grinder;
  • - screwdrivers;
  • - cotton gloves.

Instructions

Step 1

Study the instructions that usually come with your shell garage. If not, then you have to improvise. The disassembly process is not particularly difficult, but it is better to carry it out with an assistant. Open the gates of the shell as much as possible. Ask an assistant to hold the gate. At this time, find the counterweights and carefully detach them. They are usually fastened with iron bolts. From time to time they could rust. Try dripping a little lube. If the bolts are corroded tightly, you will have to cut off their caps with a grinder.

Step 2

Remove the bolts on the garage roof. To do this, ask an assistant to hold the nuts from the inside with pliers. Loosen the bolts from the outside with the correct size wrench. Rusty bolts will also need to be cut here. Under no circumstances stand on the roof with your feet and do not lean on your hands, because with each removal of the bolt, the strength of the structure is significantly reduced. Perform all procedures using a stepladder. Do not loosen the bolts securing the cross member.

Step 3

Dismantle the back panel by unscrewing all screws. Remove the side sheets. To do this, unscrew the upper cross members one by one. Do not remove all the beams at once, as in this case, the structure will lose its stops and collapse on you. The last one to take apart the gate frame.

Step 4

Examine all parts carefully. Corrosive spots must be cleaned, primed and repainted. If you plan to store the garage for a long time in a disassembled state, then you should lubricate the parts with oil to protect against corrosion. Store the dismantled garage only in a dry room. Condensation will form on the metal from the temperature drop, which can contribute to rapid destruction. Wrap the metal in plastic, but leave openings for natural ventilation.
