Removing the spring on the VAZ-2106 is done to replace it. Over time, the spring loses its flexibility, its work becomes less qualitative. Comfort decreases, and even extraneous sounds arise.
Necessary
- - jack;
- - keys set;
- - ball joint puller;
- - steering rod end puller;
- - device for compressing the spring;
- - wheel chocks;
- - safety supports.
Instructions
Step 1
Place the car on a flat surface, place wheel chocks under the rear wheels. The VAZ-2106 car is rear-wheel drive, so you can turn on the speed for reliability. Rip off, but do not loosen, the front wheel-to-hub bolts. Now jack up the side of the car and unscrew the hub bolts completely. Place a safety support under the vehicle and lower the side of the vehicle onto it. In the role of support, there can be a strong stump of suitable sizes, and several wooden blocks stacked together.
Step 2
Remove the pin from the tie rod and with a 22 wrench unscrew the nut that secures the rod pin. After that, it is necessary to carefully put on the steering rod puller so as not to damage the boot. If the boot was damaged during disassembly, it must be replaced. Screw in the puller bolt, tap it lightly with a hammer from time to time. Only in this way will the tie rod end come off the cone. When you remove the pull, pull it to the side so that it does not get in the way. The hub now rotates freely on the ball bearings. To remove the spring, it is necessary to disassemble the lower arm, since it rests against it.
Step 3
Remove the nut that secures the shock absorber rod to the body. Then unscrew the two nuts that screw the shock absorber bracket to the lower arm. The shock absorber is pulled out from below; for convenience, the stem should be pushed into the body. Now you can put the puller on the spring and squeeze it. Try to put on the puller so that the two sides of the spring are compressed evenly. Both parts of the puller must be opposite each other. But after the spring has been compressed, further dismantling can be carried out. First you need to unscrew the anti-roll bar mount. Then you will need to remove the lower ball joint. This can be done in two different ways.
Step 4
Unscrew the nut with a 22 wrench, which secures the ball pin to the hub. But you have to use a ball joint puller. It must be used in the same way as the steering puller. Try not to damage the ball boot, and if it is already damaged, be sure to replace it. But it will be easier to unscrew the three bolts that secure the ball body to the lever. This can be done with ring and socket wrenches of 13. After the hub is separated from the lever, the latter must be lowered down to remove the spring. If the spring does not come out, you will have to remove the lever completely. To do this, you need to unscrew the two nuts that secure the lever to the body. Just keep in mind that under the rectangular bolt there are metal washers that regulate the camber of the wheels. The spring on the second side is removed in the same way.
