During the operation of the car, sometimes unpleasant situations arise associated with a sudden stop of the engine. There are several reasons for such a malfunction. Among them: malfunctions of the fuel system, malfunction of electrical equipment, malfunction of the ignition system.
Necessary
- - spare spark plug;
- - control light.
Instructions
Step 1
To determine the cause of a sudden engine stop, the first step is to check the amount of fuel remaining in the gas tank. If the level of gasoline is sufficient for pumping it into the power supply system by the gasoline pump, then the serviceability of the gasoline pump and the throughput of the fuel filter are checked.
Step 2
After making sure that the gasoline is supplied to the injectors, they begin to check the health of the ignition system. A high-voltage wire is removed from any engine spark plug and a spare, known to be good spark plug is connected to it. Then, setting the gear lever to neutral and tightening the parking brake, turn on the ignition switch and start the starter.
Step 3
If there is no spark discharge on the contacts of the spark plug during the cranking of the engine, then the central wire is removed from the cover of the breaker-distributor, to which the control spark is connected, and the engine is again cranked by the starter. When a spark discharge is observed between the contacts of the candle, this fact indicates a failure of the "distributor" cover. But if there is no spark, check the supply of current to the ignition coil with a control lamp.
Step 4
If the test lamp does not light up at the moment of its connection to the lemma "30" of the inductive ignition coil, then the integrity of the fuses is checked.
Step 5
In cases where the above actions did not give a positive result and did not help to identify a malfunction in the ignition system, you should seek help from a car service specialist.
