You can make your car faster either by improving engine performance or by working on the car's aerodynamics, weight and grip. With the basic principles of a car, you can easily add power to the engine and make the car go faster.
Necessary
- - air filter
- - supercharger
- - turbocharger
- - improved exhaust manifold
- - improved cylinder heads
Instructions
Step 1
Change the air filter. Either replace your regular filter with one that is suitable for your car model, but larger in size, or put a filter with so-called zero resistance. These measures will make it easier for your engine to "breathe" air, thereby enriching the fuel-air mixture, and therefore increasing engine power.
Step 2
Put on a supercharger or turbocharger. Basically, both of these devices are designed to force air into the combustion chamber of a fuel. The supercharger is spun by your engine while the turbine is driven by the exhaust gas stream. With a supercharger, you will receive a significant, stable increase in both power and fuel consumption. The turbocharger also increases your engine's need for fuel, albeit slightly less, but it has one unpleasant feature: the formation of the so-called turbo lag. The turbine usually begins to work fully only at high speeds, from about three thousand. So as long as you haven't cranked up your engine properly, you will be driving at the same speed as in a normal naturally aspirated car. If quick acceleration during initial acceleration is critical for you, then turbocharging is not your choice.
Step 3
Replace manifolds. Standard manifolds located directly on the cylinder head are responsible for the distribution of the fuel-air mixture and the removal of exhaust gases. There are two ways to improve engine dynamics by modifying the intake and exhaust manifolds: by polishing the existing ones or replacing them with those that have the best flow capacity.
If you polish the inner surface of the intake manifold, it will reduce resistance, which means it will make the passage of the fuel-air mixture easier, and as a result, will increase the engine power.
Step 4
Replace cylinder heads. When looking for a replacement part, we will be interested in the number of valves per engine cylinder. Usually there are two of them: one for the intake of the fuel-air mixture, the second for the removal of exhaust gases. Improved heads usually have twice the number of valves per cylinder in the engine, which means they do their job more efficiently and can significantly affect engine power.
Step 5
Give the engine a general cleaning. There is no need to alter or modify anything to add power to an engine. If you think that the engineers who designed your car still understand something in their business, and do not want to interfere with the zone of someone else's competence with their rudimentary knowledge, just try to perfect and maintain in excellent condition what your car is. awarded the plant.
Fuel rarely burns cleanly: hydrocarbons will certainly remain, which accumulate in the form of carbon deposits on the walls of the combustion chambers, the intake manifold (if you have a direct injection injection engine) and valve discs. As a result, the engine loses significantly in power. To keep your fiery motor in good shape, we recommend cleaning it every 100-150 thousand mileage.
If you have never done anything like this before, and your car has a solid mileage, then you will be happy with the result.
Step 6
Reduce vehicle weight. This will not directly add power to the engine, but will optimize the use of its forces and make the car faster. Start by cleaning the trunk, and if that is not enough, then you can try replacing individual trim or bodywork with those made from lighter materials.
