Few people know that the bicycle is the most popular vehicle in the world. Today, the world's inhabitants have more than a billion bicycles at their disposal. He managed to win such high popularity due to his undoubted advantages - small size, lightness, mobility, low price and the possibility of pleasant physical activity, which is so necessary for many people.
Necessary
- - hexagons 3 and 5 mm;
- - regular and Phillips screwdrivers;
- - open-end or socket wrench 9 mm.
Instructions
Step 1
Nevertheless, the modern bicycle is a rather complex structure, which includes more than 800 parts. As you know, to transfer torque from the carriage axis to the rear wheel, a chain transmission is needed, consisting of driving and driven stars. The simplest bicycles have one sprocket and one driven sprocket, but this option does not allow for maximum power. This requires a narrow range of force, which provides the gearshift mechanism found on most modern bicycles.
Step 2
Despite the apparent complexity, the speed switches operate quite simply - due to the tension on the cable. There is nothing difficult in setting the speed switch. Before you start adjusting the rear derailleur, carefully inspect it for possible deformation, clean it of dirt and lubricate the derailleur itself, rollers and chain.
Step 3
To adjust, you need 3 and 5 mm hexagons, a regular and Phillips screwdriver and a 9 mm open-end or socket wrench. First, loosen the cable tension with the adjusting pin and place the chain on the small sprocket of the cassette.
Step 4
Then, rotating the stopper, install the frame with the rollers so that their plane coincides with the plane of the small sprocket of the cassette. Use the screw to move the frame towards the center.
Step 5
Go to the large star and, rotating the limiter, set the frame with rollers, the plane of which should coincide with the plane of the large sprocket. Again, use the screw to move the frame towards the center.
Step 6
Then place the chain on the smallest sprocket at the front and the largest sprocket at the back. Adjust the position of the roller with the screw so that when pedaling it does not touch the teeth of the large sprocket. Spin the pedals and try shifting gears in both directions. If you have trouble changing the chain from large to small sprockets, loosen the cable by rotating the adjustment knob clockwise. Otherwise, in the opposite direction.
