Many scooter accidents are caused by inexperienced novice drivers. Considering that the scooter is the most popular form of transport among young people, this situation is not surprising. Therefore, it is necessary to learn how to manage a scooter as best as possible, especially since, unlike a car, a scooter does not in any way protect its owner from injuries in an accident.
Instructions
Step 1
First of all, you need to remember that not only its appearance depends on the good technical condition of the scooter, but also its handling, maneuverability, and predictability. Before setting off, check the level of all fluids. The oil level should be monitored especially carefully to avoid problems with a seized engine. Also, pay close attention to the condition of the tread. Run the scooter on a stand or center stand to avoid accidental movement during engine warm-up, which must be done after long periods of parking.
Step 2
The scooter is not equipped with a gearbox, so you don't have to worry about changing gears - the speed is controlled by the throttle handle. But it will not be possible to brake with the engine, so all hope is only for the front and rear brakes. By the way, it is a mistake to think that it is better not to use the front brake, as there may be a danger of overturning. In fact, due to the uneven distribution of the driver's weight between the wheels, the front brake efficiency is almost a third higher, so it is worth braking with both. If you do not need a full stop, but only a decrease in speed, then a smooth press on the front brake lever is the best option.
Step 3
Bends should only be entered after you have finished braking. Adjust the speed when cornering with the throttle, otherwise you risk falling. The tilt of your body should be equal to the tilt of the scooter. When driving, remember that in Russia for scooters with an engine capacity of less than 50 cubic centimeters, the same section of the road is allocated as for cyclists - the extreme right lane, as close to the side of the road as possible. In reality, it is better to stay approximately in the middle of the right lane to avoid sudden encounters with pedestrians, car doors, holes and storm drains.
Step 4
Try to cross tram tracks at near-straight angles, as there is a high probability of falling when entering at an acute angle. Beware of driving on lane lines in rain, they can be very slippery.
