It is rather unpleasant to find that the oil began to decrease rapidly. To normalize the consumption of engine oil, it is necessary to identify the cause of its rapid decrease and take urgent measures to eliminate it.
It is necessary
- - oil gauge
- - oil filter
- - sealant
- - oil seals
- - lithol
Instructions
Step 1
When choosing an oil, take into account all the requirements and recommendations of the car manufacturer. Do not use an oil that was formulated last year with a motor that was manufactured 9 years ago. Choose the best "classics" produced already in those years and approved by the manufacturer.
Step 2
When changing oil, be careful not to overfill. Even a small increase in the amount of oil relative to the norm leads to an increase in its working pressure. As a result, the load on the gaskets and seals increases, and they are subject to rapid wear.
Step 3
Avoid prolonged (more than 2–3 weeks) vehicle downtime. If you do not start it for a long time, oil flows into the oil pan, and gaskets and oil seals dry out due to lack of lubrication. Start the car and warm up the engine at least once every 1-2 weeks.
Step 4
Oil leaks are often the cause of rapid oil consumption. If there is a leak in the oil sensor, replace it immediately. Otherwise, the aging cracked diaphragm in the sensor will burst and at any moment all the oil under the pump pressure will leak out.
Step 5
If oil is leaking from under the oil filter, tighten or replace it, as, as is often the case, it may be defective or not of the same standard as the engine.
Step 6
If there was a blow with the oil pan on an uneven road, it could pull on the bolts. To eliminate the resulting oil leakage, remove the sump, trim it and, lubricated with sealant, reinstall it. Tighten the pallet mounting bolts evenly so as not to break or rip them off.
Step 7
To eliminate the crankshaft oil seal leak, remove the gearbox, clutch (if equipped) and flywheel. When removing the old oil seal, be careful not to scratch the surface of the shaft, which can then be cleaned with a rag. Insert a new oil seal. "Litol" will provide protection of the gland lip from scratches and will serve as a lubricant.
