Preserving your motorcycle before winter should be taken very seriously, as it will determine how you ride it throughout the season. It is not enough just to close the "iron horse" in the garage, you need to do a lot of manipulations, thanks to which your bike will rumble like a kitten next season.

The first thing to do is fill a full tank of 95 gasoline. If this is not done, rust can form in the tank during the winter. Most seasoned motorcyclists advise changing the oil before preserving.

Protection of plastic and chrome-plated parts is very important, here the most important thing is to protect the motorcycle from strong moisture and, preferably, from temperature changes. Most bikers use regular car polish; just put it on the plastic and don't wash it off. But if you do not touch the motorcycle all winter, then you can douse it with silicone grease, the effect will be about the same - the silicone grease forms a film through which moisture will not penetrate. Silicone grease will also help protect:

  • seat;
  • wiring;
  • consoles;
  • egnition lock.

It is also advisable to pour it over the engine, since such a lubricant displaces moisture well.

Before wintering your motorcycle, it is better to take the battery home no matter where you park your vehicle for the winter. And it is better to recharge it periodically during the winter.

Covering a motorcycle with a cover or not is a controversial issue. After all, if it stands in an unheated room, then condensation accumulates under the cover, and this does not have a very good effect on the motorcycle's paintwork.

It is better to remove and hang the wheels, as the rubber can deform under the pressure of the motorcycle. If this is not possible, then you just need to pump up the wheels to three atmospheres. It is also recommended to pour over the rubber with a special liquid in order to avoid drying out.
