Headlights on a LADA 2107 car are not always reliable. In the factory configuration, they are practically not protected from mechanical damage. It happens that on the track, a stray stone leaves marks or cracks on the headlight glass. In this case, in order to repair the headlamp, you must first remove the glass.
It is necessary
- -gloves;
- - screwdriver;
- - pliers;
- - automotive sealant;
- - degreaser.
Instructions
Step 1
Remove the headlight from the car. To do this, unscrew the screws that secure it to the body. Next, disconnect the hydraulic corrector and wires. Move the headlamp to a dry and ventilated area. Put on gloves and try to gently pull out the glass. If for some reason the glass does not give in, put the headlamp on a flat surface, having previously spread a newspaper or an unnecessary rag, and break the headlamp glass.
Step 2
Take a pair of pliers and pry out the rest of the glass. Be careful, work with gloves so as not to cut yourself. Choose a screwdriver with a slot width equal to the width of the headlight stock. Clean out any old sealant. Pay particular attention to the clips and corners. In these areas, it can be especially difficult to clean the surface.
Step 3
Examine the headlamp reflector. Due to damage to the glass, there may be dirt, which must also be removed with a clean, dry cloth or tissue. Degrease the surface of the headlamp and new glass prepared for replacement. Examine the second headlamp for the correct sealant. After all, the color of this substance on both headlights must match. Please note that the sealant can be black, white and transparent.
Step 4
Apply sealant in a thin bead. Pay attention to the uniformity of the substance layer. This is important for the subsequent bonding process for new glass. Take a new glass and, pressing it tightly into the grooves with a sealant, tie the structure with a rope or wrap it with molar tape. Leave the headlamp to dry for about a day.
