Comfort in the car depends on how well the shock absorbers damp vibrations when driving on uneven roads. Oil leaks on the rack housing are the first sign of failure. The more fluid is gone, the worse the car ride will be.

Step 1

Replace the struts on a VAZ-2110 car if there are oil leaks on them. From this, the car becomes much worse in control, the comfort decreases. When hitting an unevenness, the body oscillates, which dies out for a very long time due to the failure of the shock absorbers. With critical wear of the unit, it can even knock out the engaged gear, and the force applied to the steering wheel must be many times greater, otherwise the car cannot be kept on the road. It is imperative to replace the racks in pairs. Shock absorbers with the same wear rate should be on the same axle.

Step 2

Prepare the car for repairs by installing special stops under both rear wheels. Then loosen, but do not completely unscrew, the front wheel bolts. Replacing the left and right side strut is the same. It is enough to raise the side to be repaired on a jack and install it on a special safety support; a small wooden stump can be used as it, as long as there are no sharp protrusions on it. Raise the side of the car so that the wheel is suspended about ten centimeters above the ground.

Step 3

Remove all bolts, remove the wheel and place it under the car for insurance. The stand on a VAZ-2110 car is removed assembled with a support bearing and a spring. Final disassembly may not be carried out on the machine. A spring puller is not useful at this stage, you just need to unscrew the nuts on the glass under the shock absorber. They attach the thrust bearing to the vehicle body. The top of the rack is free, now the case has fallen behind the lower mounts. And two bolts hold the shock absorber housing on the hub, one of them is equipped with eccentric-shaped washers. They are designed to adjust the toe-in of the front wheels.

Step 4

Move the brake hose aside to avoid damaging it. But in the middle of the rack, the steering rod is bolted. Its tip must be freed from the cotter pin with a nut, and then, using a puller, remove the finger from the steering knuckle. Now it remains to unscrew the two bolts from the bottom and, pulling the shock absorber housing down, remove it from the niche. It is necessary to install washers and a spring on the new rack, but it is better to throw out the old boot and bump stop, as they have become unusable. The installation of the shock absorber is carried out in a strictly reverse order, after the completion of all work, the alignment procedure is required.
