Step 1
Carefully inspect the hood opening mechanism and try to find where the cable breaks. If it is cut off inside the passenger compartment, take a pair of pliers, pinch the end of the cable, but not the sheath, and pull it towards you. The hood should open at the same time. You will have to pull the cable with a sufficiently large application of forces. To prevent the cable from popping out, try to wind it around the nose of the pliers. Do not jerk the cable to avoid breaking it elsewhere or being torn off from the lock mechanism.
Step 2
If the cable breaks under the hood, don't be discouraged. Park the car on an overpass or over a viewing pit. Try to make it easier for yourself to access the space under the hood of your car. If there is no overpass or pit, raise the vehicle with a jack. Be sure to place something under the engine beam to prevent the vehicle from falling if the jack fails. This will avoid injury. Carefully remove the engine crankcase guard. And remove the boot from the front mounts. Insert your hand or key into the hole next to the radiator and press down firmly on the lock latch. If you're lucky and the pressure is strong enough, the hood will open.

Contact any car workshop where specialists dealing with VAZ cars work, including the "nine". They have experience in dealing with similar situations and the necessary tool. They will also be able to repair the bonnet opening system. Moreover, often the reason why you cannot open the hood is not a break in the cable, but damage to the hood lock itself.
