Carmaker McLaren Automotive has officially unveiled the successor to the 1990s McLaren F1 supercar - the new Speedtail is the fastest road car in the brand's history.
McLaren has officially unveiled its flagship model - the fastest hypercar in the history of the brand Speedtail, which can accelerate to 402 km / h, its cost is about 2 240 000 US dollars!
The company calls the new product the successor to the McLaren F1. The feature of the new British coupe was not the power of the engine, but the sophisticated aerodynamics. For example, the Bugatti Chiron has 1,500 hp, which can accelerate to 402 km / h, while the McLaren Speedtail has the same speed with a less powerful engine.
The design of the model is close to the super-economical Volkswagen XL1. The teardrop shape of the new hypercar provides it with excellent aerodynamics - the front wheels have fairings, the rear-view mirrors are replaced by video cameras that hide inside the body. And the special Velocity mode not only hides these cameras, but also lowers the ground clearance by 35 millimeters.
There is not a single wing or spoiler at the rear; instead, two movable ailerons are used. The use of flexible CFRP with hydraulic drives actually makes it possible to use part of the body as movable aerodynamic elements.
The car is equipped with a 1035 horsepower hybrid motor. From zero to 300 km / h, the hypercar accelerates in 12.8 seconds, which is 2.7 seconds faster than the McLaren F1. Pirelli P-Zero tires are specially designed for the McLaren Speedtail to withstand extreme loads at high speeds.
Like the McLaren F1, the interior of the new Speedtail features a 3-seater architecture. A pair of passenger seats are located to the left and right of the driver's seat in the center of the cockpit, with luggage compartments located at the front and rear.
The dashboard consists of three touch screens, while the windshield and door windows are made of electrochromic glass, which can be dimmed at the request of the driver or passengers. Thus, McLaren was able to get rid of the traditional sun visors.
The total circulation of the McLaren Speedtail will be 106 cars, all of which have already been sold. Customers will receive their hypercars in early 2020.
