The appearance of oil stains in the expansion tank also indicates a defective gasket.
Despite the low cost of domestic cars and spare parts for them, the overwhelming majority of Russian-made equipment is inferior in quality to foreign cars. Taking into account the importance of the cylinder head gasket for the safe operation of the engine, maintenance specialists recommend that owners of VAZ cars replace the original gasket with a similar part of a higher quality. It is also recommended to take a spare pad on long journeys so that it can be replaced in the event of a problem.
The main reasons for the failure of cylinder head gaskets
The main cause of the malfunction may be overheating of the gasket, which causes warpage of the material and leads to its irreversible deformation. Overheating can be caused by the failure of elements of the cooling system.
Another source of additional thermal stress on the gasket is the penetration of exhaust gases under it. This causes thermal deformation of the gasket and leads to loss of tightness of the joint.
Also, a violation of the tightness can be caused by installation errors, therefore, the repair of the cylinder block, which involves replacing the head gasket, must be trusted exclusively by professionals.
