The vehicle registration certificate is a rectangular laminated document on which all the vehicle data is written. You can even say that this is some kind of identification of your car.
The vehicle passport, also called PTS, is a document that is issued either by the manufacturer or at customs (in the case of importing a car from another country). It is also issued when the car is registered, if there is nowhere to enter the new owner of the transport. PTS can also be obtained for individually designed vehicles. You just need to submit documents to US with a request to assign the VIN design.
But the registration certificate, which is most often called the registration certificate, is issued to the owner of the car in the traffic police battalion at the place of registration. The data sheet contains all information about the car, including color, body number, owner data, technical characteristics of the car. This paper is the main document for the machine, this is its certificate.
What is indicated in the data sheet?
The most important thing is the make of the car and its model. Then comes the color, identification number, as well as body and engine numbers (after the adoption of the law that motors are considered spare parts, this column was canceled, the engine number is not needed). It is also necessary to indicate what type of body the car has (sedan, hatchback, station wagon), the year of manufacture of the car and the state registration plate.
Of course, there are also such parameters as the permissible mass of a car with and without load, engine power in kilowatts and in horses, as well as its working volume. On the back of the data sheet there is information about the owner. Residence address, first name, last name, patronymic, and there is also a column for special marks. If there are any design changes and they are listed there.
How to get and replace a registration certificate?
If you bought a car or changed the color of the old one, or moved to another place, while the registration has changed, or changed the surname, you need to replace the registration certificate. The procedure takes a rather short amount of time. You will need:
- PTS (original);
- your civil passport;
- old registration certificate (if registration or surname has changed);
- receipt of payment of state duty;
- OSAGO insurance;
- a document confirming the right of ownership (upon purchase, this is a purchase and sale agreement, in other cases it is a TCP, which contains your data);
- application for the replacement of the registration certificate.
With these documents, you need to contact the traffic police at your place of residence. You will also have to pay for the replacement service, provide a receipt to the secretary. Traffic police officers will check the car for fines, whether it is pledged in the bank, whether it is listed in theft. If the car is completely clean, you will be given a new registration certificate, with which you will go home. But if the car is listed in theft, you will have to figure out what the reason is.
