The phrase "galvanized body" is often used in advertisements of car dealers. Currently, car manufacturers use thermal galvanic or cold galvanized bodywork. This treatment is expected to protect the vehicle from corrosion and road chemicals.
Instructions
Step 1
Heat treatment is used on various models of the brands Porsche, Volvo, Ford. This coating has excellent corrosion and post-processing resistance.
Galvanized galvanizing is widely used by European and Asian manufacturers.
Step 2
Cold galvanizing technology consists in adding finely dispersed zinc to the paint or primer. In fact, this method is a high-quality body paint that provides protection against corrosion. This method is widely used by European and Asian concerns that produce models designed for mass demand.
There is another method when zinc metal is used to make the body. This method is implemented in Kia vehicles.
Step 3
The overwhelming majority of manufacturers using the above methods indicate the presence of a zinc coating in the technical characteristics of vehicles and give a separate warranty for the body against perforating corrosion.
But there is one "but" - if in the technical specification the word "full" is not added to the term "galvanized", as, for example, in Audi, then only the elements most susceptible to corrosion have been processed. It can be a threshold and a bottom.
Step 4
Having seen the word "galvanized" in an advertisement for a cheap car, one should not assume that its body is 100 percent protected from corrosion. The desire to reduce costs and payback often pushes manufacturers to use inexpensive materials and dyes. Often, galvanic and cold zinc coating methods do not fully fulfill the task of protecting against corrosion. Their goal is to find a profitable compromise between low cost and durability. Therefore, the compositions and technologies are kept in the strictest confidence. For the durability of the body, the technological treatment of hidden cavities and "pockets", which protects the car from wet mud, is much more important.
Step 5
It turns out that some sellers of cheap mass-produced cars are cheating. Proving or refuting the presence of the so-called galvanizing is possible only by performing expensive tests and using special equipment. Therefore, it is necessary to pay as much attention as possible to the availability of the manufacturer's warranty for the body, rather than the statements of the brochures about the full galvanization of the body.
