Traffic jams are one of the main troubles of modern motorists. The average time spent by car owners in traffic jams is about 4 hours a day. As a rule, a traffic jam is called a situation on the road when there is either no traffic at all, or the cars are traveling at a speed of 3-5 km / h. In any case, traffic jams are a very exhausting road accident that negatively affects both the physical and psychological well-being of the driver. Therefore, experts are regularly looking for ways to solve this problem.

As a rule, traffic jams are formed in the same places - where the roads narrow, the track is being repaired for a long time, they traditionally park incorrectly, on one-way streets. This knowledge allows experts to revise the traffic rules for problem areas.

One way to simplify the traffic situation is to create reverse traffic. The organization of this method is based on the meaning of the word reverse - reverse. That is, the reverse movement is the reverse of the flow.

In Russia, reverse movement can be found only in large cities and not on all streets. In small ones, as a rule, travel issues in difficult places are resolved differently.

What is Reverse Motion

By itself, the reverse movement is the movement of the car flow along a specially designated lane. Depending on the time and the degree of traffic congestion, the reverse can be switched to one side or the other. So, for example, if in the morning more and more people go to the city center, the reverse will work towards the center. In the evening, vice versa.

The organization of this way of movement is not as easy as it seems. After all, you need to take into account many nuances, apply markings correctly, install special signs, etc. Officially, the following are used to organize the reverse movement:

- a special road sign that will serve as an indication for drivers about the beginning of the reverse;

- special markings - a dashed double line on both sides of the allocated strip;

- special traffic lights.

For the driver, the sign of the beginning of reverse movement is of paramount importance. It is from him that he should begin to orient himself on the road with reverse movement: look at traffic lights and markings.

Due to the fact that the reversing lane is common for both streams, simply acting for each of them at different times, it is necessary to follow the traffic rules especially carefully in order to avoid serious accidents, for example, in a head-on collision.

What to look for when driving in reverse

Moving on the reverse, you must very clearly follow the signals of the traffic light, which is located above the lane. It has two meanings: a down arrow (green) and a cross (red). Accordingly, the first one permits travel on the reverse, and the second prohibits. In the event that none of the signals are lit, the movement on the reverse lane is also prohibited.

If the driver was in the lane of reverse traffic when the traffic lights were turned off, he needs to change lanes as quickly as possible and leave it in order to avoid an accident.

The reverse movement continues to the place where the sign about its end is installed. Next, you need to readjust to your usual driving method. Reverse movement, according to experts, allows, if not to eliminate traffic jams, then at least to speed up travel along certain sections of the route, which will somewhat reduce congestion.
