Our car enthusiasts do not really trust cars with automatic transmissions. However, automatic transmissions are actively replacing "mechanics". Experience with a manual transmission usually does not take into account the characteristics of an automatic transmission. Illiterate dismantling increases the cost and time of work, and violation of installation technologies does not allow restoring the box if it breaks down. But the removal and subsequent installation of the automatic transmission is not a very difficult operation, and any experienced car enthusiast can do it.
Instructions
Step 1
Stock up on all the necessary tools: a jack, socket head or socket head. Think about where it is better to dismantle the gearbox - in a pit or on a hoist. Plan your work so that you can get it done without haste.
Step 2
Dismantle the hood and disconnect the negative terminal of the battery. Make sure that the pressure in the fuel system is minimized. Remove the battery and disconnect the wire from the cruise control unit, if equipped. Then remove the block.
Step 3
Remove the starter, disconnect all hoses and wires that come from the transmission, including the fuel pipes that connect the engine to the body. Drain the coolant by turning off the radiator of the cooling system.
Step 4
Disconnect the transmission lever cable carefully. All mechanical control actuators must also be undocked. Fix the engine to the lift and remove the front wheels after loosening the bolts. Drain the transmission fluid, unscrew the bolts at the front engine mount. Remove the rear engine mount.
Step 5
Tie the steering gear to the car body, then unscrew the bolts. Place a jack under the automatic transmission, and unscrew all the necessary bolts, then lower the box. Take care of a gentle descent, as rough handling can lead to breakage. A transmission jack is best suited for this operation.
