In winter, it is hard not only for people, but also for our four-wheeled friends. Low temperatures lead to problems with starting the engine. This is especially true for cars of the domestic auto industry, for example, for "Zhiguli".
Instructions
Step 1
Before starting the car, check if all the main consumers of electrical energy, such as headlights, stove, air conditioner, car radio and others, are turned off. Warm up the battery by turning on the low beam or high beam headlights for half a minute. Turn the ignition key to an intermediate position to supply oil, then try starting it. Remember that when doing this it is better to squeeze the clutch in order to facilitate the rotation of the crankshaft.
Step 2
If unsuccessful, let the battery rest for 30 seconds and then repeat the procedure. If all attempts have not brought the desired result, then using various means and a dry cloth, remove moisture from the wires.
Step 3
Try to "revive" the battery by connecting an additional battery from a running machine. This will give you more spark plug voltage and better sparking. If this method did not bring the desired effect, then you need to start the car using towing.
Step 4
Ask a friend or neighbor to start towing your car. At this time, you try to start the engine. Remember to start from second or third gear. After starting the engine, press the gas pedal vigorously to prevent it from stopping again. At the same time, depress the clutch and place the transmission shift lever in neutral. After that, give a sign to your friend and brake gently.
Step 5
After that, give the engine some time to warm up the car, to do this, increase the speed by pressing the gas pedal. Remember that it is better not to turn on the stove right away to prevent the motor from stopping. If possible, put the car in the garage overnight, because the temperature in it is several degrees higher than on the street. This will speed up the starting process.
