The main function of the mass air flow sensor (MAF) is to control the actual air consumption of the engine. Malfunctions in the operation of the mass air flow sensor, as a rule, lead to a loss of engine power.

Instructions

Step 1

Owners of "ten" most often have to deal with irregularities in the operation of the mass air flow sensor caused by malfunctions in the engine crankcase ventilation system. This leads to the deposition of resins, as a result of which the resistor changes its characteristics, the sensor begins to malfunction, which ultimately affects the operation of the idle speed controller.

Step 2

A decrease in the level of the mass air flow sensor can occur for several reasons. The first reason is that the sensor is not connected to the wiring harness. To eliminate the problem, first visually check the wiring connections. If this is not the reason, disconnect the sensor, check the contacts, if there is a fault, eliminate it and then reconnect the sensor. It remains to start the engine and check the sensor in action.

Step 3

Another reason may be an open circuit in the power supply of the mass air flow sensor. To check this, you need to turn on the ignition and check the voltage at the fifth contact of the sensor with a voltmeter or probe. When the voltage is close to zero, turn off the ignition and check with an ohmmeter circuits 37l and 376. Possible malfunctions in this case - in the sensor connector (pin 5) wire breakage 37 or the contact socket falling out of the sensor wire column. It is also possible that there was a wire breakage - 37l at the common soldering point or 376th in the section from the main relay to the common soldering point.

Step 4

After eliminating the malfunctions, start the engine and check for the absence of a malfunction code - 013. In the event of a break in the mass wire of the mass air flow sensor, turn off the ignition, check with an ohmmeter the 60th connection of the harness circuit with the engine ground in the area from contact 1 of the sensor socket to the metal parts of the engine. In this case, wire 60 may be broken or the contact socket sensor may fall out of the wiring block. A break in wire 62 from the engine mass is not excluded. After troubleshooting, start the engine and check for DTC 013.
