In order to check the automatic transmission, it is not at all necessary to go to a service center, some tests can be carried out independently. It is especially important to check the condition of the transmission before purchasing a used vehicle.
Instructions
Step 1
Inspect the transmission, pay special attention to the sump, electrical harnesses, connectors, oil lines. Strong oil drips, mechanical damage on the pallet, as well as welding marks, etc. shouldn't be.
Step 2
Check the level and condition of the oil in the vending machine. Move the automatic transmission to the Park position, the engine should be idling. Remove the transmission dipstick, wipe it thoroughly, then put it back in and out again.
Step 3
Wipe the dipstick with a light-colored, clean cloth and examine any traces of oil remaining on the cloth. If the oil is black, it means that, at best, it has not been changed for a long time. Smell the rag: if you smell a burnt smell, then the automatic transmission is in a very bad condition. Red color indicates that new oil was poured in a maximum of a week before the check, which can also be an alarming sign. The best option - the oil on the rag is clean, yellowish, without impurities, foreign particles, etc.
Step 4
Warm up the car in the Park position until the rpm drops to 650-850 rpm. Step on the brake pedal and put the automatic transmission in Drive mode. The car should react instantly, without delay, and you will feel as if the car is being pulled forward. The gear change process should not be accompanied by knocks or jolts.
Step 5
Shift the automatic transmission to the Neutral position, then to the Reverse position. The transmission should work immediately, without knocking or jolting. You will immediately feel the car pulling back. If, when switching modes, you hear extraneous sounds, feel jolts or a delay lasting more than 1 second, then the automatic transmission needs to be repaired or even replaced.
Step 6
Try driving. Accelerating to 60 km / h, the machine must change gears at least twice - from the first to the second, and then to the third. When switching, there should be no knocking, let alone a blow. There should be no slipping of gears when the revs increase, but the speed does not change.
