A comfortable and safe car ride depends on many factors. And the condition of the suspension elements is one of the main ones. Moreover, an important role is played by shock absorbers, which dampen all vibrations of the car body. They are always in motion, therefore, despite their high quality, they need to be replaced frequently.

Necessary

  • - keys set;
  • - jack;
  • - wheel chocks;
  • - safety supports;
  • - a set of rear struts;
  • - spring puller.

Instructions

Step 1

Carry out the removal of the rear pillars on the VAZ-2115 car with the wheels fixed on the front axle with wheel chocks. Replacement is done on a flat surface, although it is much easier with a pit. First, a little preparatory work. The first step is to install the puller on the spring. The standard fixture has a turnkey edge of 13, and they need to be screed. The best option would be to install the puller on a spring with a loaded suspension, with the machine on its wheels. At this point, the shock absorber rod is not fully extended.

Step 2

Jack up the side of the machine to be repaired. The best option would be to hang the entire rear of the vehicle. To do this, use supports. In the absence of those, several wide wooden bars stacked on top of each other will do. And the ideal option is a piece of a tree trunk of a suitable height. The main thing is that the upper part does not have sharp protrusions that can damage the bottom of the machine.

Step 3

Loosen the wheel bolts before hanging the rear of the vehicle. This will allow you to effortlessly remove the wheels from the hubs. After hanging the machine, unscrew all bolts and remove the wheels. Open the trunk and remove the rubber plugs from the holes in the glasses. Unscrew the nut with a 17 mm curved wrench, while holding the stem with a 6 open-end or pliers.

Step 4

Hold the stud fastening the lower part of the shock absorber with one 17 wrench, with the second unscrew the nut on the other side. If the threaded connections are very rusty, and this is the case on most cars, then liberally lubricate them with a penetrating grease. Then let it stand for 10-30 minutes to eat away all the dirt. In the most extreme case, use the heating of the thread, since there is a tank nearby and the possibility of ignition is great.

Step 5

Remove the stud after unscrewing one nut. If it does not give in, then with a hammer and a bolt, the diameter of which is smaller than the hole, knock it out. Further removal of the rack is straightforward. After that, the assembly of a new one begins. It is necessary to install a new boot and bump stop on it. These are the most important elements of a shock absorber. The boot protects the stem from dirt and water.

Step 6

Squeeze the spring harder with a puller, only then put it on the new shock absorber. The stem of the rack during assembly and installation must be extended to its full length. Otherwise, its end will not come out into the luggage compartment. The first step is to fix the shock absorber to the body. To do this, place a stand, directing the stem into the hole in the glass. The partner lays a nut on him, does not tighten it to the end. Next, the lower part of the shock absorber is installed on the beam and fastened with a hairpin and two bolts.
