The better the shock absorbers and the better their condition, the more comfortable and safe driving. The racks in the car are one of the most important elements, so it is imperative to monitor them and replace them in a timely manner.

Necessary

  • - keys set;
  • - jack;
  • - wheel chocks;
  • - safety supports;
  • - a set of rear struts;
  • - spring puller.

Instructions

Step 1

Prepare the VAZ-2114 car for repairs. In the process, you will need to compress the spring, so for this purpose you need to purchase a special puller. However, with the C-pillar, things are a little better than with the front. It is possible, albeit rather troublesome, to install the shock absorber without this puller. The presence of a pit is desirable, but not required. You can carry out the replacement with or without it. With a pit, of course, it will be more convenient, you do not have to be in a supine position.

Step 2

Install wheel chocks under the front wheels, for greater fidelity, you can even turn on the speed. Using a 19 key, loosen the wheel bolts. It is only necessary to unscrew them completely after lifting the rear of the machine and fixing it in this position. Before starting repairs, all threaded connections should be treated with a special penetrating grease. It will greatly facilitate unscrewing the nuts and save you time.

Step 3

Open the trunk lid. There are rubber plugs under the shelf on the body. They must be removed using a screwdriver or a suitable thin tool. Under these plugs is the rear shock absorber rod mount. Unscrew the nuts with a 17 spanner. It is most convenient to use a union L-shaped one, since you will still have to hold the stem from turning with an open-end screw on 6. If this is not the case, then you can use pliers or platypuses.

Step 4

Move under the car and install the puller on the spring. At the moment, the main thing is that it does not suddenly unclench. After final disassembly, you will need to squeeze it harder. Take two ring wrenches for 17. One must be installed on the nut securing the lower shock absorber eyelet. It must be resting against some part of the suspension so that it does not rotate. The second key is to unscrew the bolt. It is possible that you will need to increase the lever. A small piece of pipe can be used as a nozzle.

Step 5

Remove the bolt by turning it counterclockwise. If it does not come out, you need to knock it out with a bolt of a smaller diameter. Having removed the rack from the car, you need to take only one part from it - the spring. It will need to be squeezed harder to facilitate installation. Next, take a new rack and fully extend its stem (only in this state, assembly and installation is carried out). Mount the bump stop and boot on it, put the spring last. The rack is installed in the reverse order of removal.
