Before replacing the brake pads of a wheel, find out the reason that led to the need to replace them. Before replacing the pads, check the brake fluid level in the brake master cylinder reservoir. Then disconnect the spring of the backlash adjuster lever from the front shoe and, having disconnected its second end from the lever, remove it. Next, remove the lower clamping spring of the pads. To do this, pry the spring with a screwdriver and carefully pull it out of the hole in the rear brake shoe. Holding the rear column, remove the slack adjuster together with the spacer bar.
Step 5
Next, remove the rear shoe from the brake shield and, pressing the spring of the release lever with pliers, disconnect the lever from the parking brake cable. After removing the pads, secure the working cylinder pistons by pulling them together with a rubber band. After cleaning or replacing the pads, install them in the reverse order.
