Replacing struts is one of the most common headaches for Russian car owners. This is mainly due to the poor condition of domestic roads. If your suspension has long been in need of repair, and you don’t want to pay to the masters from the car service, then you need to think about the independent "treatment" of your "iron horse". Replacing the racks yourself is actually not too difficult.
Necessary
- - z-shaped key on "17"
- - key with a slot 6 mm
- - normal key on "19"
- - spanner key on "19"
- - jack
- - soft metal drift
- - a hammer
- - a piece of plastic tube (outer diameter no more than 14 mm)
Instructions
Step 1
In the interior of the car, we fold the back of the rear seat and move the carpet away from the place of the upper attachment of the rack to the body. We take a z-shaped wrench on "17" and unscrew the nut of the upper fastening of the rack, keeping the rack stem from turning with a key with a 6 mm slot. Remove the spring washer, support washer and upper rubber cushion from the strut rod.
Step 2
We take a regular key on "19" and unscrew the nut of the bolt of the lower fastening of the rack to the arm of the beam arm. At the same time, we keep the bolt from turning with a spanner wrench to "19".
Step 3
We hang the rear wheel with a jack and remove the bolt of the lower strut mount. If the bolt cannot be removed, knock it out using a soft metal drift and a hammer.
Step 4
We remove the stand from the eyelet of the arm bracket and take it out together with the spring. Make sure that the spring gasket is not stuck to the body and is not damaged.
Step 5
We remove the spring from the rack, as well as the spacer sleeve with the lower cushion, the cover with the cup and the compression buffer (bump stop). The assembly and installation of the stand with a spring is carried out in the reverse order.
