The braid on the steering wheel allows you to better control the car, your hands do not slip and do not freeze in winter. In addition, the original braid will make the interior more individual and stylish, it will be combined with seat covers and interior upholstery.
It is necessary
- - braid;
- - two flat screwdrivers;
- - hot water;
- - a source of steam or heat;
- - scotch tape;
- - roulette;
- - assistant.
Instructions
Step 1
Choose a braid not only by price and material, but also by size. To find out the size, use a tape measure to determine the diameter of the handlebar (outside). Additionally, you can look in the documents for the car. Diameter 34-39 corresponds to size S (sports steering wheel), 37-39 cm - size M (foreign cars), 39-41 cm - size L (classic or Volga), 42 cm - size XL (Gazelle).
Step 2
After making sure the braid matches the diameter of the handlebar, try sliding it over the handlebar. Apply the handlebar pad to pinpoint its location. Pay attention to the presence of levers or buttons - try not to cover them with braiding.
Step 3
Start at the top, pull on the top and continue downward, sequentially "putting on" the steering wheel. At the same time, it is most convenient to use the services of an assistant, since it is rather difficult to hold and pull at the same time.
Step 4
If you do not have an assistant, use scotch tape. After pulling on the upper part of the braid, fix it with tape (so that the tape does not leave marks, cover the skin with plastic wrap or cloth). Then continue to pull the braid over the underside of the handlebar.
Step 5
Use two flat screwdrivers to tighten. Put the braid on the top of the handlebar first, and tighten the bottom by prying on both sides. Next, remove one of the screwdrivers and immediately press this place with your hand. Use a screwdriver to pry off the back of the outer casing and point it towards the handlebars.
Step 6
To make it easier to put on the braid, pre-soak it in hot water, heat it with hot steam, or keep it near a heat source. The skin will become more elastic and stretch easily, and it will be much easier to put on the braid.
Step 7
You can stretch the braid a little by inserting spacers into it at night. Take the slats of a suitable size and stretch the braiding over them. It will be much easier to put it on the steering wheel in the morning. Once the braid is on the handlebar, secure it with the laces on the inside of the handlebar.
