The right choice of car tires is the key to your safety. You cannot use rubber in winter that is not intended for this. It helps to lengthen the stopping distance, which significantly increases the likelihood of an accident. You can distinguish some tires from others by their characteristic features.
Instructions
Step 1
Pay attention to the location of the studs if you are purchasing this type of tire. Refuse to buy if they are located in two rows, and not as it should be - a snake or any similar pattern. Firstly, the spikes located on the sides of the tires fly out very quickly, and secondly, they do not interfere with sliding, while the braking distance does not shorten. It is impossible to meet summer studded tires, unless, of course, in front of you is a cheap fake. Studs are a kind of guarantee that the tires are suitable for winter driving. But for the summer they need to be removed, otherwise they will become unusable by the next season.
Step 2
The pattern on winter tires should be carved and deep. It can resemble a herringbone or just chaotic grooves. It all depends solely on the tire manufacturer. Also look at the softness of the rubber. Of course, it is difficult to do this with the naked eye, but it is possible. Compare several tire options. On winter wheels, the rubber is softer and more elastic. Basically, “changing shoes” and once driving on ice, you will immediately understand which tires you have purchased.
Step 3
In some cases, even an experienced driver cannot tell which tires they have on their wheels. All season tires are designed to ride in any weather. But in severe frosts, they can slip slightly, as the rubber freezes. Look at the inscription on the wheel. If you have winter tires, then it should be written MS, M + S or W. If you see any other markings, feel free to go to the store where the purchase was made.
Step 4
Ask the seller to show you the specifications of the tires if you haven't made a purchase yet. They should detail not only what the tires are made of, but also the seasonality of their use. Of course, winter wheels cost a little more, but your life is not at risk in this case either.
