The appearance of a crackling sound from the gearbox when the clutch is depressed, when you try to engage a gear and start driving, indicates the need to tighten the clutch cable, because this defect occurs due to its excessive stretching.
Instructions
Step 1
Prepare two 17mm wrenches. After that, park the car on a level surface, turn off the engine and apply the handbrake to prevent the machine from moving during work. Then open the hood and find the place where the cable connects to the gearbox. To facilitate the task, stand facing the car and inspect the bottom of the engine compartment in the area of the right side. The cable will come out of the car, and you can easily recognize the gearbox fork by its arc shape.
Step 2
Loosen the locknut with one wrench and continue to hold it, and with the second wrench, tighten the tension nut until the cable begins to move in your direction. Do a couple of turns to either side and try to squeeze the clutch. If the result is negative, then tighten the nut a little more to achieve the desired effect.
Step 3
The nut has free play, so do not be alarmed if you made the wrong decision and made a few turns in the wrong direction. When desired, tighten the lock nut and close the hood. Be sure to make sure the clutch is working, if necessary, bleed the clutch hydraulic drive.
Step 4
Remember that it is better to have a spare clutch cable and a set of wrenches with you, because being with a broken cable on the track far from the city, without having a tool at hand, is a rather unpleasant event. If there is the slightest suspicion of an open or a malfunction in the clutch, inspect and eliminate the malfunction.
Step 5
In case of sufficiently serious defects, do not try to repair the defect that has appeared on your own, but contact a specialized car workshop, where they will not only repair you, but also give a guarantee for the work performed.
