Many people dream of a scooter, but this light and fast vehicle is expensive. However, there is a way to assemble it at home from factory and homemade parts.

Step 1
This method was first published in the magazine "Modelist-Constructor" in No. 2 2002.
Step 2
Collect the parts you want. As a rule, such homemade products are assembled from parts of several motorcycles. In this case, the front and rear wheel, engine, mud flap, rear light and muffler were taken from the Karpaty motorcycle, the headlight, front fork and shock absorber were taken from the Minsk motorcycle. The fuel tank was taken from a Riga moped, but if you can't get one, you can take a regular plastic canister. You can try to do other details yourself.
Step 3
Make the frame of the future scooter and the steering wheel. The frame can be bent from a 34x2.5 mm steel tube, and the handlebars from a 22x1.5 mm tube. Install the engine from the motorcycle with the gearbox footswitch and connect the fuel tank.
Step 4
Design the seat and backrest. They can be made from plywood sheets, cushions from a layer of porous rubber, two sheets of foam rubber with a thickness of at least 40 mm. Make the seat upholstery with a piece of imitation leather of the correct size. Attach the seat and backrest to the frame using steel brackets. They can be bent from a sheet with a thickness of 2 mm.
Step 5
Make the brakes and attach them to the frame. Attach the homemade pedal to the frame. Check brakes for reliability. The scooter can be equipped with a fairing, but you can do without it.
Step 6
Test the resulting structure. Remember that even driving a small scooter requires certain skills and knowledge of the traffic rules. A self-made vehicle must meet all technical safety standards, otherwise the use of it may end tragically. Sometimes it's better to just buy a used scooter than to do dangerous experiments with your own life.
